A backyard taster session on The Longbridge 100 Backyard Ultra course. This is not a backyard ultra. This is a taster session that offers a mini experience of a backyard ultra but incorporates a marathon achievement (42km). This event will be a diluted version of the main Longbridge 100 Backyard Ultra. Perfect for runnners who want to experience a backyard format but also for runners that want to attempt a hilly trail marathon in a controlled environment.
We have chosen 6 Yards (42km) for the #42Goose challenge. See below for more details.

We will meet at Cadence Cafe in Litlington at 8:30am for race registration and briefing.

There will be a trial lap at 8:45am for our Marshalls and some of the wonderful WOLO families and team, This will be completed for WOLO charity, similar to a sponsored walk. You can support WOLO through the Just Giving section in the registration.

The 'official' #42Goose challenge race will start at 10am. The next yard/lap starts at 11am (backyard format) after a 3 min, 2 min and 1 min whistle and a bell will start the next yard/lap. All runners willl need to pick up a yard token at turnaround point 2 and return with it to record their yard/lap before the next lap starts. The race will finish after lap 6 is completed.

A winner will be decided on actual running time over all 6 laps/yards. There will be a prize for fastest lap on lap/yard 4.

Prizes:

1. A bespoke yard/token box with all their tokens collected during the run.
2. A Liquid Spirit Roasters Bag of Coffee.
3. A can of Longman Brewery Beer.

There will be an award for the fastest lap/yard completed on lap/yard 4

*must collect all 6 tokens for each corresponding lap/yard completed.

Full medical cover for entire event with 2 portable toilets (runners only) and 1 onsite toilet (public).

We will provide basic provisions of water, active root ginger, fruit, flapjack and maltloaf.

Please bring your own cup as we are a cup free event.

Cadence Cafe will be open for snacks and hot drinks but please bring your own hydration and nutrition to sustain you for the full event.

We will have a 8m x 4m marquee to rest in between each lap/yard. Weather dependant.

The #42Goose challenge is for my son in law Gus (Goose) who recently had a double lung transplant. The number 42 is really significant to the family as it means "Answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything" from the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy.
